I am passionate about learning because I believe that one’s ability to learn is the sum total of control one gets to exert upon this world. I also believe that each individual human is born with the innate ability to pursue a path of learning (control) that will allow them to make an impact in the world, big or small, through their discovery of what is meaningful to them, and building their competency in it. As a result:

My son won’t go to school.

As an educator, both traditional and Montessori trained - as a father who loves his son more than anything else - I cannot allow my son to ever set foot in any such environment as a ‘school’.

I have been actively studying education and child development over the last ten years, while working in a variety of educational environments, with a wide variety of different people and educational approaches. If I have to summarise all the educational and developmental knowledge and data I have obtained, and relate that to my personal experiences as an educator and parent, the bottom line is this: for me to make an informed decision on my son’s upbringing and education, I have to acknowledge that the empirical (factual) picture is not in favour of my son, nor what is best for him. Therefore, it is my responsibility, as a loving father, to make the best informed decision for him. And the most informed decision I can make for him is this:

I, in partnership with my wife, am solely responsible for my child’s education - IF I want what’s truly in his best interest, and express the truest form of love I can for him.

It is not an approach to life that is without its fair share of challenges, but at the end of the day, it is all worth it. Why? Because I will have the best relationship I could ever possibly have with anyone - my child, setting him up for lifelong purpose, fulfillment, and success. I am biologically designed to do it, just like my child is. Therefore, I am biologically designed to be the best educator for my child.
